Jessica Simpson says her biggest money mistake was Nick Lachey

Jessica Simpson is a mogul with a shoe line and other ventures, but even the singer has some financial regrets.

The singer/actress told CNBC's "Closing Bell" on Thursday that although she is all about risk when it comes to her brand, she has made some errors.

When asked by host Kelly Evans about financial mistakes in her personal or professional life, Simpson replied, "The biggest money mistakes? I don't know. For some reason, I thought of my first marriage."

"That's actually a common answer, believe it or not," Evans said.

Simpson was married to fellow performer Nick Lachey from 2002 until 2005. Their relationship was documented in the hit MTV reality series "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica."

Lachey has since remarried and has two children with former MTV personality Vanessa Minnillo. In 2014, Simpson married former football player Eric Johnson, with whom she has two children.
