Las Vegas Valley likely to stay dry Monday

Despite the overcast conditions, rain mostly stayed away from the Las Vegas Valley on Sunday.

And Monday shouldn't be much different, according to the National Weather Service.

The 20 percent chance of rain in the forecast is limited to the outskirts of Las Vegas, meteorologist Chris Stachelski said.

The weather, however, should be a few degrees cooler than Sunday's 100 degree high, Stachelski said. The high today is projected to reach 96 and dip significantly to Tuesday's expected 90 degrees.

Expect winds to pick up tonight into Tuesday, with gusts reaching between 30 and 40 mph, Stachelski said.
