Pedestrian critical after being hit by vehicle in west Las Vegas

A pedestrian was critically injured when hit by a vehicle on West Sahara Avenue at the private drive to Palace Station on Monday afternoon.

The collision occurred about 1:35 p.m. when a southbound 2005 Chevrolet Suburban turned from the private drive to go east on Sahara and hit a pedestrian who was crossing Sahara in and around the crosswalk, according to a preliminary crash report from the Metropolitan Police Department.

The pedestrian, a 64-year-old man from Flushing, New York, was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition, police said. He remained in critical condition Monday evening.

The driver, a 35-year-old Las Vegas woman, called 911 and was not injured. She did not show signs of impairment and cooperated with the investigation, police said.

The collision remains under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.
