Downtown Summerlin to kick-off opening weekend with street festival

Downtown Summerlin will kick-off its opening weekend with a spectacular four-day “Downtown Summerlin Street Festival” designed to engage, entertain and surprise the residents of Southern Nevada.

The official opening ceremony begins at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9 with a Light Show. Downtown Summerlin is encouraging attendees to arrive early to receive one of ten thousand interactive LED wristbands that will make them part of the show.

The evening will showcase an incredible spectacle of light and sound never before seen in the Las Vegas Valley.

The street party will continue on Friday and throughout the weekend as DJs, street entertainers, artists and surprise guests and giveaways fill the streets of Downtown Summerlin.

Style will take over on Saturday Oct. 11, with fashion shows throughout the day.

Also on Saturday, Las Vegas entertainers will roam the streets of Downtown Summerlin selling copies of the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s pink newsprint edition.

This is the fifth consecutive years the newspaper has printed in pink in recognition of October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. All proceeds from these sales will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Southern Nevada and the

American Cancer Society.

In addition to the restaurants and eateries that will open on October 9, Park Centre Drive will be home to a pop-up food festival with fun, eclectic food trucks lining the streets from Oct. 9-12.

Downtown Summerlin will have extended hours throughout the weekend as follows:

  • Thursday, Oct. 9 – Saturday, Oct. 11 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 12 – 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Downtown Summerlin will be offering a gift with purchase promotion through the four-day celebration. Guests who spend $250 or more in same day receipts will receive a free gift valued at $25 or more. There will be different gifts each day. Gifts

can be redeemed at the Concierge desk located in the breezeway of the nine-story office building, One Summerlin.

A complete list of activities can be found on the website or on Facebook and Twitter.

Downtown Summerlin will be home to an amazing collection of shops, boutiques and restaurants, including Macy’s, Dillard’s, Nordstrom Rack and other popular retailers, in a stunning open-air environment. It will feature an eclectic mix of shopping, dining and entertainment that its developers believe will make it one of the most prestigious and striking outdoor shopping destinations in Nevada, if not the entire Southwest. When complete, the adjacent 200 acres within Downtown Summerlin will include additional retail, entertainment, office, hotel and multi-family residential, all designed to create a vibrant, walkable urban core within the master planned community of Summerlin.
