Henderson golfer loses in semifinals of USGA mid-amateur

Henderson’s Kevin Marsh was defeated in the semifinals of the United States Golf Association’s Mid-Amateur Championship on Wednesday, losing 3 and 2 to Scott Harvey of Greensboro, N.C., at the Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa.

Marsh, the 2005 mid-amateur champion, defeated Patrick Christovich of New Orleans in 19 holes to advance to the semifinals.

Harvey, the No. 1 seed, will face second-seeded Brad Nurski of St. Joseph, Mo., in Thursday’s 36-hole championship match.

Volunteers needed for Shriners Children’s Open

Hundreds of volunteers are needed for the PGA Tour’s Shriners Children’s Open in October at TPC Summerlin. Volunteers are required to work at least three shifts.
