Mayweather on history of domestic violence: “Only God can judge me”

Floyd Mayweather appeared on CNN’s “Unguarded with Rachel Nichols” on Friday night. His PR team probably wishes he hadn’t.

On the eve of a rematch with Marcos Maidana, the champ faced a barrage of questions from Nichols regarding his comments on Ray Rice’s suspension and his own lengthy history of domestic violence.

When asked why fans should root for someone with his domestic violence history, Floyd dodged with this: “Everything is allegations. Nothing has been proven. So, you know, that’s life.”

But Nichols wasn’t letting up. She went on to point out that Mayweather served time in jail for an incident in which the mother of his children ended up with bruises and a concussion, and that his own children had called the police on him. She also brought up a Deadspin article that detailed multiple physical assaults on women that resulted in either a citation or arrest.

Could all of these women be lying?

“Well everybody is entitled to their own opinion,” Mayweather responded. “When it is all said and done, only God can judge me.”

An incredulous Nichols then gave the boxer a chance to soften his stance, asking if Mayweather would consider donating some of the $32 million he will make this weekend to an organization that educates against abuse.

But Mayweather wasn’t taking the bait.

“This weekend, what I will do is make sure that millions and millions of dollars be saved for my children, because my children are who I love and that’s who I care about.”

Unbelievable. But it happened. See the video below.
