2 OK after Northern Nevada copter crash

MINDEN — Two people escaped with minor injuries after their helicopter crash-landed south of Gardnerville early this week.

Douglas County sheriff’s officials said the chopper went down Wednesday afternoon in the Horsebend area. Authorities said they weren’t notified until after the pilot and passenger made it to the hospital.

The pilot told deputies that he and his female friend had used the helicopter while fishing in the Carson River. When they lifted up off the ground after fishing, something went wrong and they crash-landed.

The two were able to contact another pilot who flew them out of the area.

Officials from the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
