UNLV women begin play in NCAA golf regional

UNLV opens play today in the NCAA women’s golf Central Regional at Stillwater, Okla. The Rebels, making their 12th consecutive NCAA appearance, are seeded 16th in the 24-team field. The top eight teams advance to the May 20 to 23 NCAA Championships in Tulsa, Okla.

UNLV will field a lineup of junior Dana Finkelstein, the Mountain West’s Golfer of the Year, junior Mayko Chwen Wang, senior Demi Mak, and freshmen Avery French and Vivian Hsuan Chen.

The Rebels are paired with Colorado and Southern Methodist for the first of three rounds in the stroke play event on the par-72, 6,200-yard Karsten Creek Golf Course.

UNLV finished 15th last year in the West Regional at Stanford, Calif. Its best finish was in 2004, when the team took second at the East Regional in Florida.
