Jeter gift tour off to slow start

The year-long salute to Derek Jeter is already starting to feel nauseating.
It’s only the first series of the year.
Jeter is going to be honored in every city when the Yankees come to town for the final time as the shortstop makes his farewell tour in his final season.
ESPN and MLB Network are going to cut in on far too many of his at-bats and way too many of them are going to end with routine groundouts to second base.
What will be interesting is to see what kind of ridiculous gifts Jeter picks up along the way.
Every city will try to provide him something specific to the region and they will almost without exception be incredibly cheesy.
The tour began in Houston where the Astros trotted out Jeter’s old friends Andy Pettitte and Roger Clemens to present the gift package.
Jeter got a pair of cowboy boots, a cowboy hat and a set of golf clubs.
So original.
If Las Vegas had a franchise, Jeter would be receiving a deck of cards and engraved poker chips.
You get the point.
There is one way to at least make watching Jeter receive all these gifts fun.
Just imagine that every present he gets is eventually going to autographed and added to one of the gift bags Jeter is rumored to provide his sexual conquests.
