First Look: “3 Days to Kill”

What: “3 Days to Kill”

Cast: Kevin Costner, Hailee Steinfeld, Amber Heard and Connie Nielsen

Writers: Luc Besson and Adi Hasak

Director: McG

The story: A spy (Costner) must complete one final mission before he can try to rebuild his strained relationship with his wife (Nielson) and daughter (Steinfeld) in this action drama.

The buzz: The Year of Kevin Costner is getting off to a rocky start. “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit,” in which he played a central role, was kept from many critics in time for reviews and declared all but DOA at the box office. Now “3 Days to Kill” isn’t being screened in time for Friday print deadlines. (For the record, neither is Friday’s other wide release, “Pompeii.”) This is almost never a good sign. Maybe Costner’s “Draft Day,” due out April 11, will fare better.
