Pedestrian critical after hit-and-run accident Thursday night

A man is in critical condition after being hit by a pickup truck Thursday night on the east side of the Las Vegas Valley.

Police responded to Lake Mead Boulevard near Pecos Road just after 7 p.m. and found a 57-year-old man with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to University Medical Center.

Police said a preliminary investigation showed the man was trying to cross Lake Mead Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit. The pickup driver did not remain at the scene.

Police described the vehicle as a dark-colored mid-sized truck, possibly a Ford, with damage to the right front. The first three characters on the license plate were “563.” No state was identified.
