Clark County aviation official’s death ruled a suicide

Clark County’s assistant director of general aviation, Cecil Johnson, committed suicide Thursday, the Clark County Coroner’s office has ruled.

Johnson, 63, had been with the aviation department since 2004. He died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

“He was a great guy. Everyone is deeply saddened by his passing,” spokeswoman Linda Healey said.

Johnson oversaw four airports in Clark County and was a lead negotiator for the county’s relationship with union employees.
