Reno prisoner dies in medical facility

An inmate at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Reno died Tuesday morning.

Robert M. Murphy, 63, died in the center’s Regional Medical Facility about 5:45 a.m., according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

Murphy was committed from Clark County in September 1981 and was serving a sentence of 60 months to life for sexual assault, the department said.

His cause and manner of death will be released after an autopsy by the Carson City coroner’s office.
