Plea agreement resolves murder case in Arizona

A plea agreement has been entered to resolve a murder case in northwest Arizona. James Collins, 51, pleaded guilty Tuesday in the October 2014 death of his girlfriend Cynthia Horn, 54.

Prosecutor Jace Zack said the couple who lived in separate residences in Yucca were driving back home when an argument erupted and Collins shot Horn twice in the head near Wikieup. Cadaver dogs were used to find the victim’s remains; they were buried on a 3-acre parcel in Yuma.

Collins is convicted of second-degree murder under the deal. He faces a 10- to 20-year prison term when sentenced on May 20.
