Man shot and killed Monday at apartment complex ID’d

The man shot and killed Monday at an apartment complex has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

According to the coroner’s office, he was Thomas Blas, 34, of North Las Vegas. His death was ruled a homicide.

About 9 p.m. Monday, officers responded to the Solis apartment complex, 3223 E. Flamingo Road, in response to a man “screaming for help,” Metro Lt. Sean McNulty said Tuesday.

Officers found a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he later died, police said.

Police said that the investigation initiated by Metro’s homicide section indicated that several people saw four to five men running away from the area where the shots were heard.

“Detectives believe a failed drug deal may have been the motive for this incident,” according to a statement released by Metro.

No arrests have been made in connection with the homicide, and no further details about possible suspects were available, Metro spokesman Larry Hadfield said.

Blas’ death was the 50th homicide Metro has investigated in its jurisdiction this year.
