Man killed at southeast Las Vegas tattoo parlor identified

The man who died in a southeast valley tattoo parlor’s doorway Monday night has been identified by the Clark County coroner.

Fernando Montano, 26, died of multiple gunshot wounds, the coroner said.

Montano and another man, 28-year-old Eric Garcia, walked into Sin City Ink, 3430 E. Tropicana Ave., near Pecos Road, armed with handguns. They began beating a male employee about 8:30 p.m. Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon said.

When their attention turned to a patron, the employee retrieved a gun and there was an exchange of gunfire, police said.

The employee shot and killed Montano, who died in the doorway as Garcia got into a gold Cadillac Escalade and left the scene. Garcia was arrested near the parlor and booked on multiple counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon and prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

The employee had a bullet graze his head. He was treated at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and released.
