Contestants ready for Miss Universe

Think of it as a smokin' hot version of the United Nations.

The 61st Annual Miss Universe Competition, hosted by Bravo's Andy Cohen and E!'s Giuliana Rancic, won't take place until Wednesday.

But the preliminary competition kicks off at 7 p.m. today at PH Live at Planet Hollywood Resort, 3667 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

More than 80 contestants from around the world will be judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview.

Tickets for the preliminaries are $68.60, while tickets for Wednesday's 10 a.m. dress rehearsal are $34.40.

Tickets for Wednesday's finals - where Angola's Leila Lopes, Miss Universe 2011, will crown her successor - are $68.60-$208.75.

They can be purchased by calling 800-745-3000.
