Homeowner rally planned at county government center

U.S. Senate candidates Dean Heller and Shelley Berkley will attend a homeowner rally today at the Clark County Government Center.

The rally, to be in the amphitheater from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., is sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders and the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association.

Heller and Berkley will join Congresswoman Dina Titus and Clark County Commission Chairwoman Susan Brager in addressing housing issues in Southern Nevada.

Topics include protecting the mortgage interest deduction; guaranteeing credit-worthy consumers and small businesses the opportunity to obtain mortgages and loans; and resolving the foreclosure crisis.

As one of the hardest-hit states in the country, Nevada's economy has suffered from the slowdown in home construction, and home buyers and homeowners are struggling to find affordable mortgage loans that could help them avoid default and foreclosure.
