U.S. Highway 95 flyover to Summerlin opens to traffic

Drivers heading to Summerlin on U.S. Highway 95 got their first shot at using new high-occupancy vehicle flyover lanes on Monday.

The $27 million federal- and state-funded project opened to traffic and officials expect it will be used by about 800 to 1,500 vehicles a day. The Nevada Department of Transportation is counting cars on the flyover but figures aren't yet available.

The flyover is restricted to vehicles carrying two or more people from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., and open to everyone else during the remaining hours.

The flyover carries vehicles between U.S. 95 and the Summerlin Parkway.
