Vaccinations available at many locations across valley

Students are required to have their immunizations to return to school, and the Southern Nevada Health District is making it easy, offering shots during extended hours on weekdays and Saturdays, starting Wednesday.

While some clinics offer free vaccines, the health district charges for the vaccines, a cost that ranges from $16 per child for one vaccine and $26 for multiple vaccines.

The vaccinations required by the Clark County School District are listed at http://ccsd.net/parents/enrollment.

School shots will be the only service offered at the health district's main location, 330 S. Valley View Blvd., near Meadows Lane.

Immunizations are administered from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday until Aug. 10. After that, hours will be extended at the location to 6 p.m.

In Mesquite, shots will be offered at the Public Health Center, 830 Hafen Lane, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office is closed from noon to 1 p.m.

In North Las Vegas, shots will be offered at the Boys and Girls Club, James Clubhouse, 2530 E. Carey Ave., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every fourth Thursday of the month.

Special community clinics also will be at schools, malls and other locations in August with many offering free vaccines to those 18 years old and younger.
