Counting the Monte Cristos
July 11, 2012 - 1:03 am
You want to know just how avid those avid fans of the Monte Cristo sandwich are? Not only did we get a bunch of replies from fellow readers for Sandi Rich and Paulina Roth, regular reader Mamie Glorioso left me a voicemail last week asking why the suggestions hadn't run sooner (vacation, Mamie). And so:
Marv Weber and Phillip Mlynek recommended The Cracked Egg, which has four locations across the valley; Linda Akins recommended breakfast at Memphis Championship Barbecue at 2250 E. Warm Springs Road and 4379 Las Vegas Blvd. North; Chuck Himber, Cindy Metzger, Joy Bowles and Sharon Carelli favor The Maple Tree Cafe at 6000 Spring Mountain Road; William Isaac recommended the Pyramid Cafe at Luxor, 3900 Las Vegas Blvd. South; Sue Keyser likes the one at Jerry's Nugget, 1821 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
Also, Pam Young found them at lunch at the Boulder Dam Hotel at 1305 Arizona St. in Boulder City; Al Garth recommended Tavern at the Falls at Highland Falls Golf Club at 10201 Sun City Blvd.; Rod Sims recommended Buckman's Grill at Revere Country Club at 2600 Hampton Road in Henderson; Pam Cherney recommended Levy's Bagels & Deli, 7875 W. Sahara Ave. ...
For Joan Bernstein, who's looking for whitefish salad, Cherney also recommended Levy's, and Marcus, Roberta Shulman and Sandra Green all recommended Costco. ...
For Maxine Adams, who's looking for Salada decaf tea bags, Barbara Sambrano emailed that she finds them at Albertsons. ...
For Eleanor McGivney, Sambrano said she finds custard pie at Vons and Marie Callender's. ...
And for readers looking for good corned-beef sandwiches, Joe Sneed recommends the East Coast-style Bill Bailey's Irish Brand Corned Beef Brisket at Albertsons, along with Alpine Lace Swiss (Wal-Mart) and Great Grains New York Rye (Glazier's Food Marketplace, 8525 W. Warm Springs Road). ...
