Calling out for Monte Cristos

After a column a few months ago that mentioned the long-departed Foxy's, a Las Vegas institution of the '50s and '60s, Sandi Rich emailed that Foxy's also made "the best Monte Cristo sandwich," and wondered whether anybody is making one like that anymore.

Las Vegas is such a city of transplants that I doubt many readers remember Foxy's Monte Cristo, but that particular sandwich, cloaked by French toast, has been such a frequent request over the years - including, most recently, from Paulina Roth - and the answers such a continually moving target, that I decided to lead the column with it this week.

So I ask, readers: Where in Las Vegas today do you find good Monte Cristos? ...

Fort Apache Road (she added that cinnamon butter also is available). And for readers looking for Chateau frozen bread dumplings, she reported finding them at AJ's Fine Foods in Phoenix, should you be in the area. ...
