Gorgeous sfogliatelle found at two delis

Sfogliatelle are gorgeous -- shell-shaped, with delicate pastry folds replicating the ripples on a clam shell -- and they're even better to eat, with their rich, creamy filling. And this week readers have found them for Robert Gigante, who's looking for the frozen form.

Libby Casolari said they're available at Siena Deli and Trattoria at 9500 W. Sahara Ave. ("Call and they will get frozen ones packaged for you," she advised.) Pat DeFilippo recommended Siena Deli at 1335 E. Sunset Road, with Siena's Brian Strait adding that they're available there in two sizes. ...

For Traci Donovan, who's looking for hearts of palm, Carol Epstein and Joyce Gargan suggested 99 Cents Only at 1200 S. Decatur Blvd. and 9230 S. Eastern Ave., Renee Passadore said they're available in cans at most major supermarkets and in jars at Trader Joe's, and Heather King and Michelle Knoll reported that they have returned to Costco. ...

For David Whalen, who's looking for the Cincinnati favorites cottage ham and Glier's goetta, Lynda Bechtold emailed that Glazier's Food Marketplace, 8525 W. Warm Springs Road, has Rose's smoked shoulder butt, "which is about the same as Shop Rite's Select meats and better than Fredrich's brand Porkette."
