Local City Stop stores sold

The owners of The City Stop convenience store chain sold the businesses to a Colorado-based company but retained the Nevada Gaming Partners slot machine route operation that services the games inside the 11 stores.

Terms of the sale to S&S Fuels Management LLC were not disclosed Monday.

City Stop was owned by Bruce Familian and Jon Athey, who also own Nevada Gaming Partners. The route operation manages the slot machines in the 11 CityStops, several taverns and automated laundries, and two grocery chains.

Familian and Athey said they plan to devote more energy to developing the slot machine routes throughout Nevada.

City Stop was founded in 1997 and employs 110 people.

In a statement, Familian said that all local employees will be retained and that he and Athey will remain with the company while the stores go through remodeling.

S&S Fuels has 151 stores in Colorado, Missouri, New Mexico and Utah. This is S&S's first venture in Nevada.
