Computer glitch slows check-in at MGM properties

Computer problems at Strip properties operated by MGM Resorts International delayed hotel guest check-ins Friday, just as a busy weekend in Las Vegas was getting under way.

MGM Resorts operates 10 Strip properties, including the MGM Grand, Bellagio, The Mirage and the CityCenter complex. MGM Resorts officials confirmed the company was experiencing trouble with the guest registration computer system at several of their resorts, resulting in long waits.

"Resorts are experiencing varying levels of access to the system as we address these issues and the delays they are causing," MGM Resorts spokesman Gordon Absher said in an email. "Resorts are fully staffed and have additional personnel on duty to help accommodate guests."

Front desk staff had to manually register hotel guests, a process that takes longer than a computerized system.

"We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate the patience of our guests while we work through these computer problems," Absher said.

This weekend is expected to be busy in Las Vegas. The Electric Daisy Carnival is scheduled to open Friday night at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and the event is expected to attract some 115,000 visitors per day for the three-day festival.

The MGM Grand Garden is hosting the WBO welterweight championship fight between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley Saturday night.
