California high school student decommits to Utah, joins UNLV

Defensive end/tight end Jeremiah Valoaga of Channel Islands High School in Oxnard, Calif., chose to play football at UNLV after decommitting to Utah.

He said he didn't want to grayshirt at Utah, which would've meant joining the team in 2013.

"I liked how the coaches were real close to the players and they will let me in school right away instead of waiting," Valoaga said.

Valoaga (6 feet 7 inches, 215 pounds) also was offered scholarships by Hawaii and Idaho. He visited UNLV, Utah and Idaho.

UNLV will bring him in at defensive end, but Valoaga said it was possible he could switch to tight end at some point.
