Highway construction to close I-215 in northwest Las Vegas

Construction crews plan to close Interstate 215 in the northwest valley at 9 Friday night as they prepare to install a drainage ditch beneath the freeway. The northern Beltway will remain closed between Decatur Boulevard and Aliante Parkway for the next 10 days.

Motorists traveling on the freeway will be detoured until Jan. 23. Eastbound traffic will be routed south onto Decatur, east onto Ann Road, north onto Simmons Street, which turns into Aliante Parkway and feeds back into the freeway. Westbound traffic will be detoured south onto Aliante Parkway, west to Ann Road, north to Decatur and then back onto the Beltway.

Massive concrete boxes will be installed 36 feet below the road's surface as part of Clark County's $116 million project to widen Interstate 215 to a four-lane freeway between Aliante Parkway and Tenaya Way. The project also includes new interchanges at the Beltway and Jones and Decatur boulevards and a new bridge at Bradley Road.
