Northern Nevada inmate serving time for robbery dies

A 58-year-old man doing time for burglary and robbery convictions has died, the Nevada Department of Corrections announced Monday.

Gary Wayne Lewellin, who was committed from Washoe County, died at about 3 p.m. Monday at the North Nevada Correctional Center's medical facility in Carson City, the department wrote in a release.

Lewellin was serving five to 25 years for burglary and robbery convictions and had been incarcerated since April 2010.

The cause and manner of Lewellin's death will be released by the Carson City coroner's office.
