Sunday outdoor event at Smith Center postponed

The Smith Center for the Performing Arts is up and running indoors, but the threat of rain has postponed a planned open house on Sunday, where local bands and artists were to inaugurate its outdoor lawn and park space.

"The whole idea was to showcase the park and do tours," said Myron Martin, the performing arts center's president.

But weather forecasts of rain and strong winds raise the prospect of moving some or all of the activity indoors, and "the whole vibe would change," he said.

Those who sign up for notifications at thesmithcenter.com can still schedule tours when a new date is chosen.
