Woman struck, killed while crossing street

Las Vegas police said a 30-year-old woman was killed Tuesday morning after being struck by a pickup.

Police said the woman was hit in a crosswalk at Eastern and Cedar avenues about 7:30 a.m.

The truck was driven by 51-year-old Florencio Reyes-Rivera, police said. Reyes-Rivera was driving a 1984 Ford F-150 south on Eastern.

He was in the left-hand turn lane to eastbound Cedar. The woman was on the east sidewalk of Eastern, crossing Cedar from south to the north in a marked crosswalk. While turning east onto Cedar, the pickup struck the woman, police said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

The fatality marked the sixth traffic-related death in 2012 under the jurisdiction of Las Vegas police.

The Clark County coroner's office will release the victim's name.

The incident remains under investigation.
