Loyal fans suggest sources of fried clams
March 7, 2012 - 1:59 am
Fried whole-bellied clams definitely have their loyal fans in Las Vegas, but so, it seems, do fried Ipswich clams, and today they report on several local sources for fellow reader Rob Schillio.
Pat Mathusa and Dave Levesque both recommended Lazy Joe's Fish & Chips at 7835 S. Rainbow Blvd. and Beverly Brown recommended Red Robin at 9600 S. Eastern Ave. in Henderson (there also are Red Robins at the Galleria at Sunset mall at 1300 W. Sunset Road in Henderson and at 7860 W. Tropical Parkway).
For those who want to make them at home, Levesque recommended Sea Pack Seafood strips at Smith's and Pat McMorris said she finds them at the Costco Business Center at 222 S. Martin Luther King Blvd.
And Mathusa added that equal-opportunity Lazy Joe's also serves the whole-bellied type, for anyone who would like to do a side-by-side comparison. ...
For Honorene Unseitig, who's looking for Usinger's liver sausage or liverwurst, Steven Ackerman and Christine Hill-Ackerman and Libby Casolari said she'll need to order from the company at www.UsingersDeli.com (800-558-9998). ...
For Jack and Kay Gaworski, the Jensens at Village Meat & Wine, 5025 S. Eastern Ave., said they carry goose liver pate and Rosenberg Danish blue cheese in oil. ...
For Bud England, Marilynn Homan emailed that she buys Keebler Saltines at Smith's at 830 S. Boulder Highway in Henderson. ...
For Lori Keach Clayton, Barbara Kurzeja said she had two recommendations for true deep-dish Chicago-style pizza: Rosati's, which has several locations in the valley, and Aurelio's, at 10960 S. Eastern Ave., Henderson, and 445 W. Craig Road. More to come, I'm sure. ...
And for those looking for haddock, John Bisci Jr. recommended the frozen haddock at www.BuffaloFoods.com and noted that Red Lobster, which has several locations in the valley, serves fried-haddock fish fries. ...
Here are more reader requests.
Homan: Red Oval crackers, which she used to find at Smith's;
