Beam up to the Rio for ‘Star Trek’ convention

Fans will find themselves out of this world during the Official Star Trek Convention Las Vegas today through Sunday at the Rio, 3700 W. Flamingo Road.

Headlining the event are Leonard Nimoy on Saturday and William Shatner and Patrick Stewart on Sunday. Other stars expected to attend include Jonathan Frakes, Rene Auberjonois, Armin Shimerman and Nana Visitor on Friday; Brent Spiner and Kate Mulgrew on Saturday; and Nichelle Nichols and George Takei on Sunday.

A gala celebration at 9:30 p.m. Saturday will feature James Darren in concert. Tickets are $30. 

Event tickets, priced at $35 Thursday and Friday and $40 Saturday and Sunday, are available at the door or at www.creationent.com. Tickets for children 12 and younger are $25, with children younger than 6 admitted free. The show runs 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. today, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
