Latest DVDs, CDs, books: Sept. 20

A look at some of the DVDs, CDs and books hitting stores this week:

DVDs

"Bridesmaids" (R): A lovelorn underachiever (Kristen Wiig) finds herself in maid-of-honor hell when her best friend (Maya Rudolph) announces she's getting married in a female-centric comedy romp that shifts between raucous raunch and nuance; Rose Byrne (as a control-freak trophy wife) and "Mike & Molly" Emmy winner Melissa McCarthy (as a walking-id toughie) co-star.

Another movie with brides on the brain (and in the title), the Dutch drama "Bride Flight" (R) follows three women (Karina Smulders, Anna Drijver, Elise Schaap) and one man (Waldemar Torenstra) to New Zealand in search of better lives after World War II.

In our "Welcome to Las Vegas" segment, the revenge thriller "Set Up" (R) features Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Ryan Phillippe and, in a brief supporting turn, Bruce Willis. Ray Liotta investigates "The River Murders" (R), while an FBI agent (Christian Slater) investigates him. Nevada's own "Area 51" (R) provides a backdrop for terror featuring Bruce Boxleitner and Jason London; the latter also turns up in the family heartwarmer "The Lamp" (not rated).

Leading today's TV-to-DVD transfer list (all unrated unless otherwise noted): the miniseries "The Kennedys" with Greg Kinnear and Katie Holmes and the landmark 1983 TV movie "Adam," plus the revived "Hawaii Five-0: The First Season" (along with the 11th season of the original "Five-0"), "Body of Proof: The Complete First Season," "Happy Endings: The Complete First Season," "Mike & Molly: The Complete First Season," "Raising Hope: The Complete First Season," "Modern Family: The Complete Second Season," "Castle: The Complete Third Season" (G), "The Mentalist: The Complete Third Season," "McMillan & Wife: Season Six" and "Mike Hammer: The Complete Series."
