Tourist dies after fight at O’Shea’s

A Utah man was killed Wednesday morning after a fight at a Las Vegas Strip casino.

Las Vegas police said the man died at O'Shea's, near Flamingo Road and Las Vegas Boulevard South, after Benjamin Gerard Hawkins, 37, punched him in the face about 12:45 a.m.

"The victim fell dead in the casino," said Lt. Lew Roberts, who oversees the Department's Homicide Section.

Hawkins, from Gainesville, Fla., was arrested and booked on murder charges at the Clark County Detention Center.

The Utah man has not been identified.

It was the third homicide on the Strip in the past two weeks.

On Monday, Javier Medrano-Padilla, 21, was stabbed to death on a pedestrian walkway between The Cosmopolitan and Planet Hollywood. Pedro Carlos Robledo, 28, was charged with murder in that incident, which reportedly started as a fight between a group of local Hispanic men.

On June 25, Las Vegas resident Andres Elena, 21, was stabbed to death on a walkway linking the MGM Grand and New York-New York.

Police responded to a call regarding several people fighting on the walkway shortly after 4 a.m.

Elena was taken to a hospital where he died of stab wounds to the chest. Victor Quijano, 25, was arrested in connection with Elena's death.
