Female victim in south valley crash identified

The woman who died in a head-on collision in the south valley Thursday has been identified as Amanda Marie French of Las Vegas.

French, 19, was driving a 1994 Toyota Corolla west on Pyle Avenue near Amigo Street when she crossed the into the eastbound lanes and struck the front of a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix at 1:07 p.m.

Las Vegas police said the Pontiac's 20-year-old female driver and 19-year-old male passenger suffered minor injuries. French died at the scene.

The crash was the 47th traffic fatality in the Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction this year.
