Shows take soulful look at Broadway musicals

"The Best of Broadway Las Vegas: A Soulful Musical Celebration" will make its West Coast debut Friday and Saturday at the Dallas Theatre in Texas Station as a fundraiser for Broadway in the Hood.

Shows are at 8 p.m. Friday and 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets, which range from $20 to $35 and include the option of a buffet-style dinner, can be purchased at www.broadwaylasvegas.com, by calling 258-0569 or at the theater box office, 2101 Texas Star Lane, North Las Vegas.

The show features a cast of multicultural singers, dancers and actors, and a musical score comprised of songs from such Broadway shows as "Wicked," "Dreamgirls," "Hairspray" and "Chicago," among others. Each show features a different selection of songs.

Broadway in the Hood is a nonprofit group that trains young people in theater and culinary arts.
