PROJECT DINNER TABLE COMING
TO LAS VEGAS DESIGN CENTER SATURDAY

The next Project Dinner Table event is set for 6 p.m. Saturday at the Las Vegas Design Center at the World Market Center's 16th-floor rooftop terrace, 495 S. Grand Central Parkway. Chef Roy Ellamar of Sensi at Bellagio will prepare the six-course meal.

Guests will dine together at one long table draped in white linens. The evening is set to include live music, cocktails, poetry and craft seasonal beers to pair with the local ingredients.

Saturday's dinner will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas.

Springs Preserve to host ice cream festival

The Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd., is scheduled to host an ice cream festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Springs Amphitheater.

Besides all-you-can-eat ice cream, live music also is planned.

Stations will feature ice cream cones, sundaes, novelties and root beer floats.

Entertainment for all ages includes airbrush tattoos, a photo booth, a bubble play station and carnival games.

Tickets are $6 in advance or $7.50 the day of the event. Children 4 or younger get in free, and members receive half off admission.

El Cortez announces May dining specials

This weekend will be the last time the Fresh Stone Crab special is available until October at the Flame Steakhouse inside El Cortez, 600 Fremont St.

The special features stone crab flown in from Florida and is $28 per pound with cottage fries and coleslaw.

Flame plans to begin serving a trout amandine and walleye pike special the weekend of May 20, which will feature Idaho trout and Minnesota walleye pike flown in fresh every week.

The special is $16.95 and is available while supplies last.

The Vegas StrEATs Festival is set from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday. Helldorado Days-themed menu items will be available at food trucks, which each will create a custom barbecue dish.

The event will expand to Sixth Street, and trucks scheduled to participate are Slidin' Thru, Muncheeze, Fukuburger, Sloppi Jo's, Tasty Bunz, Haulin' Ballz, Food Slingers, Snow Ono Shave Ice, Island Breeze, Cheesesteak Truck and more. Live music and art also are planned as part of the festival.

Drink specials include $2 Bud and Bud Light draughts, $3 Jameson or Jagermeister shots and $2 Pepsi products.

In honor of Memorial Day, El Cortez plans to serve free White Castle cheeseburgers from noon to 6 p.m. May 30 for Club Cortez members.

Gala to benefit autism programs

For Kids Now's eighth annual Spring Gala to benefit local autism programs is scheduled for Saturday at the Stirling Club, 2827 Paradise Road.

A plated lunch by master chef Charlie Palmer is included in the price of $125 per person or $1,000 per table of eight.

Lynda Tache of the Grant a Gift Autism Foundation will be honored.

A silent auction is scheduled for 11 a.m., and entertainment will be provided by Robey, the Green Valley High School Chamber Strings and Fortgang Music Productions.

Business casual attire is recommended.

Eastside Cannery to serve dining specials in May

The Eastside Cannery, 5255 Boulder Highway, is serving dining specials in May, including $1 margaritas on the rocks, $2 tequila shots and $3 Mint Juleps at all casino bars.

Snaps will offer a $9.99 surf and turf special and breakfast (two eggs, bacon or sausage, hash browns and toast) for $3.11 with the purchase of a beverage.

The buffet will be $7 all day on Thursdays and Sundays and on Memorial Day, May 30.

Carve is offering a three-course combination with choice of soup or salad and choice of entree (beef medalliions au poivre, lamb chop or two jumbo shrimp) with choice of dessert for $19.99.

The Deli is offering three pulled pork sliders with fries and coleslaw for $5.99 with the purchase of a drink.

Social House at Crystals launches weekly event for locals

Social House inside Crystals at CityCenter, 3720 Las Vegas Blvd. South, recently launched Kudasai, a weekly dinner party dedicated to Las Vegas locals and those who work in the restaurant and nightlife industry.

Kudasai, which means "to give" in Japanese, offers 50 percent off food. Reservations are required. Seating begins at 8 p.m. each Wednesday.

I Love Burgers to give hamburgers for books

In honor of National Hamburger Month and Get Caught Reading Month, I Love Burgers at the Palazzo, 3325 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to give guests who donate a new or used book a free slider during May.

Up to 12 books per person per day will be accepted. Guests who donate 12 books at one time will receive a "booker's" dozen of sliders in exchange.

At the end of the month, the books will be donated to the Shade Tree shelter, a safe place for homeless and abused women and children to stay.

Carl's Jr. partners with March of Dimes, Las Vegas 51s for fundraisers

Carl's Jr. locations across the Las Vegas Valley are collecting donations for the March of Dimes through May 23.

Any customer who donates $1 will receive a special cutout to sign and display, along with food coupons. Last year Carl's Jr. raised $40,000 for the organization, which supports research, awareness programs, local hospitals and families affected by the outcomes of premature births.

Carl's Jr. also is partnering with the Las Vegas 51s baseball team. While supplies last, Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson locations are giving one ticket to a 51s game to customers for free, upon request, with the purchase of any large combo. The 51s also are selling a Family Four Pack with four game tickets, four Carl's Jr. $4 food coupons and four 51s hats for $36.

Las Vegas Epicurean Affair set for May 26 at the Palazzo

The Las Vegas Epicurean Affair is scheduled for May 26 at The Pools at the Palazzo, 3355 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

The annual event is sponsored by the Nevada Restaurant Association (NvRA) and will feature samplings of cuisine and cocktails from restaurants and beverage purveyors. The Las Vegas Epicurean Affair package features a luxury suite at the Palazzo or The Venetian, two general admission tickets to the Affair, two-for-one well drinks at Salute Lounge, complimentary line pass/admission to LAVO nightclub and a buy-one-get-one-half-off ticket deal for a gondola ride.
