Ex-union official sentenced, fined

RENO -- A former Teamsters union official who admitted embezzling funds from Local 533 in Reno has been sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay $87,000 back to the union.

A federal judge in Reno also ordered 65-year-old Mark Winfield Tracy on Monday to pay a $10,000 fine and submit to three years of supervised release when he gets out of prison.

U.S. Attorney Dan Bogden said Tracy knowingly and fraudulently used union funds to pay for unauthorized personal expenses that he charged on a pair of union credit cards.

Formerly of Reno, Tracy now lives in Ocala, Fla. He pleaded guilty in December to a federal charge of embezzlement of labor union assets.

Prosecutors agreed Monday to let him self-report to prison by Sept. 30.
