Las Vegas Sands asks judge to block cameras in courtroom

Las Vegas Sands Corp. has asked a Clark County District Court judge to block television cameras from her courtroom during a hearing Tuesday on a lawsuit filed against the casino operator by its fired Macau subsidiary top executive.

Attorneys for Las Vegas Sands filed the motion with Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez after the PBS television series "Frontline" made a request to record the proceedings.

The wrongful termination lawsuit, filed by former Sands China CEO Steven Jacobs, has prompted an investigation into Las Vegas Sands by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice concerning potential violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal plans to file a request with the court today to have a photographer in the courtroom to cover the hearing.
