New Savers thrift store to hire 50 workers

Savers Inc., a Bellevue, Wash., thrift store chain, on Thursday said it will open a local store June 2 that will create 50 jobs.

To fill the positions, Savers will host a hiring fair outside the store at 8530 W. Lake Mead Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and March 31.

Savers has more than 270 stores across the United States, Canada and Australia. The store will be the company's sixth in the Las Vegas Valley.

Savers said that besides offering bargain-priced secondhand merchandise to consumers, the Las Vegas store will support the community through a partnership with Safe Nest, a Southern Nevada nonprofit shelter and crisis resource center for abused women and children.

Savers will pay the nonprofit for every item donated at a Safe Nest community donation center that's on-site at Savers or collected directly by Safe Nest and given to Savers.

Revenue raised from the partnership will support Safe Nest services, which include a 24-hour hot line, 24-hour emergency services, counselors, support groups and parenting training.

Applicants must apply in person for jobs at the store. Savers said it's offering part-time and full-time positions in backroom store production and on the sales floor for people with customer service and sales experience and entry-level applicants.
