Pianist to perform with Philharmonic

The Las Vegas Philharmonic will kick off the new year at 8 p.m. Saturday with its third Masterworks concert of the season, featuring Italian pianist Fabio Bidini performing Aram Khachaturian's Piano Concerto.
The concert at Artemus Ham Hall at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway, also will include the "Ruy Blas Overture" by Felix Mendelssohn and Symphony No. 4 in E Minor by Johannes Brahms. A pre-concert conversation with conductor David Itkin will start at 7:15 p.m.
Tickets, priced from $35 to $75, are available online at UNLVtickets.com or by calling the UNLV box office at 895-2787. A shuttle service from Summerlin's Starbright Theatre and Anthem's Independence Center is available at additional cost.
Bidini, who started studying piano at the age of 5, has won such international piano competitions as the Busoni and Van Cliburn.
