Hot-shooting Aztecs top Lady Rebels
The UNLV women's basketball team lost to host San Diego State 77-60 in a Mountain West Conference game Saturday.
San Diego State (10-13, 4-7) shot 58.5 percent for the game, including a torrid 73.7 percent in the second half to pull away.
UNLV shot 30.4 percent but hung around by going 23 of 31 at the free-throw line, while the Aztecs shot just 15 free throws, making 11. The Lady Rebels (9-16, 2-9) also forced 18 turnovers while committing 12.
Markiell Styles led UNLV with 16 points, Kelli Thompson scored 13 and Erica Helms 11. Jamie Smith had 10 rebounds for the Lady Rebels.
Courtney Clements paced San Diego State with 22 points, and Paris Johnson went 8-for-8 from the floor, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
