Man indicted in death of jewelry salesman

A 35-year-old man in the United States illegally was indicted on charges of murder with use of a deadly weapon, armed robbery and other felonies in the December slaying of a jewelry salesman.

Edin Arellanos-Oliva was found Dec. 30 strangled to death in the back of his Nissan Altima, from which he sold jewelry, perfume and other items.

The car was parked near Maryland Parkway and Flamingo Road, where Arellanos-Oliva was scheduled to meet Juan Manuel Lopez.

Lopez told investigators he had purchased $400 in perfume from Arellanos-Oliva but denied being involved in the man's death.

Las Vegas police arrested Lopez after he failed a polygraph test and after cell phone records placed both men near Lopez's apartment before the death.

Lopez remained in custody at the Clark County Detention Center without bail. His country of origin was unavailable Friday.
