Woman dies after crashing into parked car

A woman was killed Sunday night after losing control of her Jeep and crashing into a parked car.

The 38-year-old woman, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 9-year-old girl in the Jeep suffered minor injuries.

Las Vegas police said the crash happened about 9:36 p.m. A 1997 Jeep Wrangler was traveling south on Lindell Road after crossing the intersection of Palmyra Avenue, near South Jones Boulevard and West Desert Inn Road.

The Jeep crossed the center portion of the road, striking an unoccupied 2004 Ford Freestar parked on the east side of Lindell .

The Jeep rolled, throwing the woman from the vehicle.

It was the 15th fatal traffic accident in the Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction this year.

The crash remains under investigation.
