One person killed in single-car crash

A 25-year-old man died Monday morning after a single-vehicle accident in the east valley.

Las Vegas police said the accident happened at 6:48 a.m. when a white compact car struck a pole near Nellis Boulevard and Stanley Avenue.

The passenger, who was not identified, was killed. The driver, 22-year-old Francisco Lopez-Zepada, was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Clark County coroner's office will identify the victim.

It was the 16th fatal accident in the Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction.
