Direct Title apparently out of business

Direct Title has apparently gone out of business, the latest in a number of smaller title and escrow companies that shut down when the Las Vegas housing market took a turn for the worse.

Phone calls to Direct Title's office at 8965 S. Eastern Ave. could not be completed as dialed, and several local sources in the title industry confirmed Tuesday that the company has closed.

The Nevada Insurance Division, which oversees title companies, showed a license termination date of Jan. 7 for Entitle Insurance Co., which is listed under Direct Title Insurance Agency. Another related company, Southern Title Insurance Co., was inactive as of June 2, 2009.

Other companies that have closed offices in Las Vegas include Towne Center Escrow and Southwest Title.
