Climber dies from fall at Red Rock National Conservation Area

A 42-year-old woman who fell dozens of feet while climbing at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area on Thanksgiving died Monday, Las Vegas police said.

Police identified the woman as Heather Gray of Vancouver, B.C. Officer Marcus Martin, a police spokesman, said authorities were alerted about Gray shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday.

Martin said initial reports were that she fell between 40 and 60 feet, although a second report said she might have fallen from 100 feet. Martin said she fell after climbing in the Oak Creek Canyon area.
