Woman who died in home fire identified

A woman found dead earlier this week in a northwest valley home after a small fire was identified Thursday by the Clark County coroner's office as 25-year-old Lisa Smith.

The coroner's office has not yet determined the cause and manner of her death.

The Las Vegas Fire Department said firefighters were alerted to a "medical emergency" at 2:56 p.m. Monday at 7321 Backstretch Drive, near Tenaya Way and Azure Drive. They found smoke in the house and Smith's body near the front door.

The fire began in a rear bedroom but quickly burned itself out. Las Vegas police were investigating Smith's death, which is routine when a body is found at a fire scene.
