BERNIE FUMAGALLI
YEARS: 1958 TO 1961
Career highlights:
■ Scored 1,122 points in three seasons to tie Michael Burns for 26th on the all-time list.
■ Led team in scoring all three seasons, averaging career-high 20.1 points in 1959-60.
■ 6-foot-2-inch forward played for coach Michael "Chub" Drakulich in program's first season.
Quotable: "I could dunk the ball, and that was a rare thing back then. We weren't very big, but we could shoot the ball. We took a lot of long car trips, and we had a good time together." -- Fumagalli
Currently: Teaches chemistry at University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Retired after 30 years as a scientist for the U.S. Bureau of Mines. He and his wife of 51 years, Estelle, a Rancho High graduate, have one son and one daughter.
