Career highlights:
■ Scored 828 points in 50 games for a career scoring average of 16.6.
■ Averaged 19.1 points in 1968-69, second on the team to Curtis Watson.
■ The Rebels compiled a 38-16 record in his two seasons, including a 21-7 mark in 1968-69 under coach Rolland Todd.
Quotable: "Tom was a great shooter. He was always a long-distance shooter before we had the 3-pointer. He was a great guy to play with, and a guy who just enjoyed playing the game." -- Watson, Watkins' teammate for one season
After UNLV: Watkins returned home to Los Angeles. His whereabouts are unknown, according to Todd and former teammates.
